The wheel of Ixion keep turning around. One week ago today we left Dr Jones' where we had spent the winter and spring and came down here to reside this summer- Father had many regrets in leaving chicago but as the farm now lies within 3/4 of an hour of the city we concluded to try the rural break for a short time and certainly the past week's experience has proved it most delightful I have always been more of a lover of the country in theory than in practice perhaps because I have never been able to find out whether my theory was all theory or not. Numerous causes conspired to make me regret leaving the city the principle of which was that it cut off all of my social pleasures such as calling evenings &c another was that it deprived me of attending church. a third our glee club an Quartette which John Andrews Geo Harvey Sam Kerfoot and myself have formed and formed a Serenading club of very sleep destroying qualities We have been out now three times and sang at the residences of 13 young ladies- A particular yound lady on 21st St. was also said to be a great attraction to Chicago for me- which of course I did not deny. I have been quite well since I returned from New York. Frank we have left in Chicago spending the summer with Fred Tuttle. that is what is said but my private opinion is that he will be more at Dawn that at 721 But one of the principle pieces of information which I wish to state is that I am now in business for my self drawing on wood- I have a desk in an engravers office on Wabash Ave
