Paris Saxe Sunday Eve March 1st 74
The winter has passed away and now commences the charming Spring. I have been perfectly well and hard at work all the time. I have not not missed a day at the studio this winter but two when Tracys Mother was sick about two or three weeks ago and I being one of his best friends he sent for me, his mother was hopelessly insane and required his constant care that was an odd day. the 10th I went up to the studio as usual a message from T desired me to come immediately to his house, doing so I found him almost heart broken. Mansfield soon joined us and I went over after Dr Johnson, a letter was at the Bank from Lucy which did not add much to my gaiety I returned that afternoon to Tracys and remained until late in the evening and then came home down here to the corner after some dinner. Daintrey lay over the table drunk. I determined to take

him home if I could particularly as he was very blue, when I got him in his room he became like a perfect baby and it was quite late when I came home and went to bed tired out. The next day I did no work but as I was sitting writing in my room that afternoon Daintrey staggered in and said Tracys mother had gotten out. acting upon T's wish I immediately took a cab and with my maudlin friend went to one of the depots but to make a long story short that night I sat up in an unfurnished room at T's while my friend D slept on the floor a colder night we have not had this winter the next day she was removed to a maison Sante. I have now painted ten heads and I think with out conceit my progress has been marked. at any rate I feel encouraged and tried to impart some to Pardissus who came in just before dinner the bluest mortal in creation. I advised him to take a vacation-
