the distance and with it all the familiar landmarks which have become so intimately associated with me since the fire. Well my new life had commenced and of its varing [[varying]] incidents I have kept record if not in my journal at least in the letters I have so regularly sent home. The past few weeks have been unusually active in my attempt to make the concours in the Beaux Arts for Efevon's class. I dare not think as yet that I am going to be accepted and if I were not I should feel like eating several of the committe [[committee]]. on Monday the 28th September we began with perspective and I think I did well.
Anatomy came the same Wednesday it was very unfair but I did as the others took my charts and made a nice copy of the Thorax side view
Monday following we drew from the ornament three days of two hours each concluded this and then we were alloted from these drawings our positions for the Life. I had 34 points and came the 13th from the head in my series which was far from bad, but the test has begun with this week in the Life and how I am coming out remains to be seen. half or more now trying will have to stand being left out as they only admit 80 perhaps my drawing may be considered to belong to the unlucky pile. My talented young friend Sargent has been working in my Studio with me lately and his work makes me shake myself. Our "overture" at Durans has been postponed until next monday by the advice of the dignified little Battefaud and the "patron" does not come in from Fontainebleau until the 1st proximus.
