Example, there were long windows which opened in with the French fastenings such as I have recently seen in the new Colony Club on Park Avenue.  How vastly superior to our Guilletin windows - Indeed, every recollection of this comfortable home is one of pleasure.  Between the sidewalk and the Avenue were little well trimmed parks with tall slim trees, then the broad avenue with the walk on the further side bordered by a narrow inclining bank leading down into what was called the "Basin", the piling supporting the Illinois Central R R tracks being several hundred feet out in the lake with a "brick water" of piles and stones beyon, this nevertheless did not prevent the waves dashing over the tracks and the spray covering the car windows of passing trains when Easterly storms were severe.
