Dear E.M.C;-

Your encouraging letter came just after my scribble of yesterday left. Many of your hints I have been following up but some are good to work upon. I'll talk 'em over when we can meet again. The LIFE-guards are keeping me on the string,- they say they want to use my stuff in Labor Day No., but how much to believe them I do not know.

It is darn swell of you to take so much time and thought over my predicament. Let me know when you are to have a free quarter-hour, or so.

I wish you could have heard Vic's eulogy of your "Profile",- and even the taciturn Beula Amidon gave it high praise, which I think is unusual for her.

The Home Owners Loan Corp.(se) holds our mortgage but they are not very anxious to take the old house, so I can hold it a while. The advance publicity,(that I am using in a personal way to convince individuals that my work is worth investing in),-and the various letters and other kinds of appreciation,- are all valuable and will be more-so when I am able to get entre to some of the money-bags. Newhall does not think he has enough influence to do much with the Museum folk but he says he will go after Holger Cahill, the Big Boy in W.P.A. Art,- for a special assignment for me.
