Know all Men by These Presents, That J.W.S. Donnell of the County of [[strikethrough]] Rutherford [[/strikethrough]] Lime Stone, State of Alabama held and firmly bound to the United States of America in the sum of Two Thousand (2000.) Dollars, for the payment of which I bind myself, Heirs, Executors and Administrators, firmly, by these presents, in this Contract:  That I am to furnish the persons whose names are subjoined, (freed laborers,) Quarters, Fuel, substantial and healthy Rations, all necessary Medical Attendance and Supplies in case of sickness, and the amount set opposite their respective names per month, during the continuation of this Contract===the laborers to be paid in full before the final disposal of the crop which is to be raised by them on my plantation, in the County of [[strikethrough]] Rutherford [[/strikethrough]] Lawrence, State of [[strikethrough]] Tennessee [[/strikethrough]] Alabama.
We, the undersigned, Free Laborers, agree to work faithfully for the said J.W.S. Donnell obeying all his instructions, in good faith, and in case we leave his service before the expiration of this Contract===provided, we are not driven off or maltreated===we are to forfeit all wages due us at the time of so leaving.
