March 24, 1949.

Mrs. Eva J. Nichols,
President,
Black Hills Council of American Indians,
Sioux Sanitorium,
Rapid City, South Dakota.

My dear Mrs. Nichols:-

Your telegram came this morning. We certainly hope that the Black Hills Council of American Indians will cooperate in every way toward making the NCAI convention at Rapid City a success, and as an affiliate organization we would expect you to participate fully in the convention. I should think that your organization would serve much in the nature of hosts to the visiting delegates who come to the convention, and I would think that you could do a great service for NCAI and for your own organization by making the delegates feel welcome and at home.

The primary responsibility for planning any national NCAI convention has always rested in the hands of a convention committee appointed by the President for that purpose. At Denver in December, 1948, a Convention Committee was appointed to take this responsibility for the Rapid City convention. I suggest that you get in touch with William Firethunder, Allen, South Dakota, to find out how best the Black Hills Council can fit into the Committee's plans. Mr. Firethunder is a member of the permanent convention committee and also one of the vice presidents of NCAI. He will be glad to know that you are interested in helping make the convention a success, I am sure, and will have work to assign the Black Hills Council to do.
Sincerely yours

Ruth M. Bronson
Secretary.
P.S. I am looking forward to meeting you in September.
