Jordan, Rev. Andrew.
Goldsboro April 7th 1866.
Complains against the action of Capt (Chaplain) Geo. O. Glavis in turning his church and school out of the building they occupied. Endorsement of General Howard Respectfully referred to Col E Whittlesey Asst Comr. Endorsement of Col. E Whittlesey Respectfully forwarded. As the facts are well known I need not delay this paper by referring to Chap- Glavis. The building in which Mr. Jordan began his school was never in the possession of this Bureau, and was to the owners by order of the Dept. Commander. The Fair-ground Hospital buildings are now under our control, and one wing has been fitted up by Mr. Glavis Asst. Supt. for a church No objection has been made to Mr. Jordan's using it, at proper times But he has been holding meetings

at midnight, much to the disturbance of the neighborhood & Mr. Glavis has forbidden such meetings after 9 1/2 P.M. which action I approve. Jordan, as his letter shows is a very ignorant man, and in place of his school we have now a well conducted one with three excellent teachers. His profits suffer, but the people are much benefitted by the change

Endorsement of Genl. Howard. Respectfully returned to Rev Mr Jordan thro Col. E Whittlesey As Col Whittlesey is held responsible for the conduct of affairs in No Carolina, such rules and regulations as he may make will be approved and sustained by the Bureau. Mr Jordan's attention is therefore invited to the endorsement of the Asst. Commissioner for No Carolina Endorsement of Col. E. Whittlesey Respectfully referred thro Capt. Almy to Chaplain Glavis who will call the attention of Mr. Jordan to endorsement on this paper. Respectfully referred to Chaplain Geo. O. Glavis whose attention is called to the endorsement of the Asst Commissioner
