164 Price was present and consented to the binding out of her four children to A.W. Pierce Sr. and that Capt Evans then Asst Supt. of the Sub Dist prepared and expected the Indentures as did Mrs Pierce - That A.W. Pierce Sr. is considered by his neighbors as being a man of very kindly and humane feelings and a suitable person to have the care of colored children. It appears further on the investigation that Susan wished Mr. Pierce to take the youngest children , she reclaiming the two oldest, which he refused to do but offered to take them all to which she finally consented. Susan's statement that she never was in the Court House at Louisburg but once is false as is proved by the affidavit of P.C. Persons of this County here - with forwarded and by the testimony of Misses Wissner and Pleasants taken by me "viva voce" at Louisburg The affidavit of W.H. Pleasants is herewith enclosed showing Susan's consent to the binding out of her children to Mr Pierce In my judgement the children were properly Indentured and should remain with Mr. Pierce.
