Reports that Major Johnston has virtually anulled the contract for the Govt Farm States that Maj Johnston says the dependents remaining on said Farm are to be sent to New Berne and requests transportation for one (1) man one (1) woman and (4) four children to that place.
Respectfully forwarded to Col C.A.Cilley A.A.G. I forward this paper without approval, not knowing whether it is the wish of the Asst Commissioner that these destitute dependents should be sent from Goldsboro to New Berne. I have received no such instructions from the Asst Commissioner and all I know about the matter is that Major Stickney informs me in this letter that Bvt Maj Johnston says "the dependents remaining on the Farm were to be sent to New Berne" I would most respectfully request that all Orders to Asst Supt of this District may be sent through this office
I like to know all about what is transpiring in my District so far as relates to the Bureau

Respectfully returned. There is no objection to the employment of Col. Brady's son but $75.00 is the utmost that will be paid a Clerk at the office of a Supt
