UNITED STATES
DEPARTMENT OF THE INTERIOR
BUREAU OF INDIAN AFFAIRS
WASHINGTON 25, D. C.

July 28, 1950

Mr. John C. Rainer
Executive Secretary
National Congress of American Indians
618 Dupont Circle Building
1346 Connecticut Avenue, NW
Washington 6, D. C.

Dear Mr. Rainer:

This will confirm our telephone conversation in response to your letter of July 21, with regard to the forthcoming Convention of the National Congress of American Indians.

As indicated to you, I shall be delighted to attend. If it is satisfactory with you, I would like to have 20 or 30 minutes within which to address the group and tell them generally of my plans and policy with regard to Indian Affairs. I would then be willing to devote as much time as they wish to an open forum to answer any questions they may have.

Incidentally, if Judge Johnson's invitation came into the office, I have not seen it, nor has anyone in my immediate office.

With all good wishes,

Sincerely yours,

D. S. Myer
Commissioner

P. S. It is understood, of course, that I would be available preferably for the morning of the 29th, and will not be available any other day.

D. S. M.
