Resolution #49 A resolution advocating that the movie-makers, our public school systems, the various colleges and universities of higher learning, the newspaper, radio and publishing industries, have an end at making the American Indian the villain in motion pictures, in school activities, and in the various types of publications and that, as substitute, the valor, courage, and statesmanship of Indian citizens of any generation of American peoples be extolled and lauded in historic pageantry as true as can ever be portrayed of any native son of this our country; and urging those in position [[strikethrough]] s [[/strikethrough]] to do so to bring an end to prejudices and further the beginning of an understanding and comradeship with our first Americans, the Indians. BE IT RESOLVED by the National Congress of American Indians; WHEREAS, too often modern movie-makers and others in the public information fields and entertainment business and in our great educational systems portray the Indian as a villain, a hoodlum and a brute, [[strikethrough]] but [[/strikethrough]] and WHEREAS, the Indian in the past has made magnificent and untold contributions to our great American culture and civilization [[strikethrough]] ; that [[/strikethrough]] and today [[strikethrough]] he is [[/strikethrough]] as an American citizen [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] has fought with valor and distinction in all wars to uphold the principles of our American government and [[strikethrough]] that [[/strikethrough]] many members of his race have attained high places as Members of Congress, (one as Vice-President of the United States), as Governors, as members of the Supreme Courts of our states and as judges of the different juris-
