GUM TRAGACANTH
*IS A WEAK SOLUTION USED FOR APPLYING ENAMEL TO METALS
- comes in powder form at any drugstore
- 1 tsp. trag. dissolved with enough pure WOOD alcohol in quart jar to form a paste. To paste, add 1 quart of water, shake vigorously, and allow to stand overnight. Thin solution at top used as spray in atomizer... Thicker solution at bottom used for more detailed work later...to be mixed with enamel

or
-1/2 oz gum trag.
1 gallon hot water- 
to 3/4 oz. - 1 qt - hot water

SPAREX Pickling Compound no. 2 -
- for cleaning copper & silver
or sulphuric acid pickle -  or nitric acid pickle -

Spatula method of applying enamel to metals:
1- hold enamel with spatula
2- push enamel in place with pointer
3- level off enamel with spreader 
Ways of applying enamel
1- dry
2- withwater
3- sift with nylon 
For curved surfaces, use tragacath or squeegee oil(mainly a ceramists product)
