fine SILVER

  to clean:  heat piece till dull red color, and cool.
 - pickle in diluted sulfuric acid (instead of nitric), 1 part sulf. to 4 parts water.  pickle must be hot, but not boiling, leave silver in solution till clean, whitish color 
 - rinse silver and give quick dip in warm nitric acid (1 part nit to 1 part water)
 - rinse again
 - steel wool or glass brush

silver has greater tendency to recede around edges than copper
fine silver doesn't oxide in kiln

use thin coats of enamel on silver
