Mr. Byrnes, curator at the L.A. County Museum suggested I have a show in L.A. & recommended a few fine galleries but that is out of the question - I want only to paint & maybe in 10 years I'll have another show. [[strikethrough]] He [[/strikethrough]] Mr Byrne was most gracious - & he spoke to me as tho I had known him for years - & invited me to a big opening tommorrow night at the Los Angeles Artists (over $3000 in prizes will be given away) I hate openings but I really must go.

When I was in Santa Fe I bought [[strikethrough]] some [[/strikethrough]] 2 very beautiful New Mexican pntgs on wood at Edith Bedell's. (I spent $37.00 there) They were done apx. in 1780 (or so) absolutely exquisite & authentic & also a wonderful fragment of a Chimayo Indian Ceremonial sculpture - portrait of a man
