They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1947. I telephoned from New York and asked Mother, "How does it feel to have been married to one man for fifty years?" She sighed with mock weariness. "Oh, he's impossible," she said. Then I heard her peals of laughter and she said, "But I suppose if I had to do it all over again, I would marry him just the same."
