Gentlemen:

We are assemblying [[assembling]] an exhibition showing the artist's contribution to ballet through decor and costume designs. We are particularly interested in contemporary work that has been done with ballet.

One of the artists you handle, Robert Rauschenberg, has worked, I believe, with Merce Cunningham and has done some very interesting things with ballet designs.

Could you find out from Mr. Rauschenberg if these things exist as design sketches or as actual objects and if they might be borrowed for our exhibition, which is scheduled April 3 through May 13? Needless to say, we expect to pay all costs involved with the loan, and we will work out the final arrangements for the loan if we find that the pieces are available.

I might add that these may be in the possession of the dance group with whom Mr. Rauschenberg collaborated, and, if he could give us this information, this would also be appreciated.

Sincerely,

John Dillehay [Signature]
