One of the vital essences of my work is a preoccupation with creating art that suggest change and metamorphosis, permanence and impermanence.

FAITH-DORIAN WRIGHT

[[image-photograph]] Tribal Hanging. Crayon, papers and wrapping, acrylic. 38" x 22". 1982-1983.

My work goes back to the roots of collage in tribal expression. I am heavily influenced by Primitive Art and employ its materials with deliberate allusion- broken glass, leaves, fabric, bark, leather and feathers. From my own culture, I employ candy wrappings, crayons, labels and thermograms. These materials are carefully collected and fitted into a composition, giving a "magical" quality to a culture that is modern.
