But a part of a Box i Purchased from the Commasary at Port Royal the time Capt E.E. Mulliner Came to New york to get his stars far the ship & i was Running the Boat as Master for Him i was Pilot of the Boat all the time she was in the Department of the South up to the 30th Day of April i took the contract.

Col i can take my Oath my men never Had used One Gallan of Molasses for Tea & Caffee since they Have ben in the USS Diamond they always Had sugar the same as i Had for thair coffee & thair coffee is as good as i drink i did Have some curnal coffee that i used but i use the ground Paper coffee as they do. the same & i dont know How to treat men Better if i Try for Col i dont know they names of but one of the firemen & coal Bassers i never Have Had Occasion to speak to them since i took the Boat i Have thair names on my Books & that is all i Have a vary nice crew of Engeneers varry Peasable & my mates also my Cook is a collard man from Savannah
