August the 16, A.D. 1868

My Dear Father i took the pleasant opportunity to drop you a few lines to let you no that i am well and enjoying good health and i hope these few lines may find you all in the same state of health i must now tell you how the weather is it is very pleasant here now But we had and  ofal site of rain here for about 3 weeks right along But it is very dry now for this time in August now i think this time next year i will Be with you folks once more if i keep my health
