at present, we Have a military funeral Here' Evry Evening very near But I shall try to take care of myself, the best I can, we Drill Every morning and Evening, this is a very Beautiful place, Here' we Have nice shade trees all Around our Barricks. it is very hot down 'Here' at present, musquitoes is very numerous here. I am very much oblige to you-- Father for your advice. it is a good advice and I shall take it, when I come home. Again I Shall Be quite a Different young man. As soon as my time is Expired I shall return home to roam this unhappy world no more. Give my Respects to all Inquiring friend's. I think Before long we shall have some service to do as the Indians are getting very wild on the Western frontiers. When you write tell me if you fetched my chest from that place. I received the letter you sent me on the 29th of July there is Ellection in New Orleans to day. then is a Great Excitement prevails throught Camp About the result of the Ellection Weave Had a nice time of soldiering up to to this far and have 109. men in our Company all about one size. it would do you so much good if you only saw us drilling, we are the best drilled company in the regiment we was Inspected By our Colonel of Saturday his name is Col. JS Malorey a very nice man, we have a nice Sargeant in our Company his Regiment has the Best Band ever I saw in my life, it is the Oldest Regment in the Regular Service,, and Bears a good name, there is men here that had Benn in the Regiment for 20 years, the Regment is now lazing[[laying]].  Weare in detached service. I do not no how soon we will move from Here' I suppose we will stay here' some time, as this is getting near' Roll Call. I will lose By remaining
