Since LIVING was started I have confined my [[strikethrough]] writing [[/strikethrough]] architectural writing to its pages. I did this deliberately, because I felt if I was to have time for fiction writing, as well as for my hone and husband, I would have to narrow the field. But I soon learned that the rigid requirements for a LIVING story -- size of house, cost, youth and charm of the owners -- meant a large amount of research that bore no immediate fruit. I went on weekly trips to see houses under construction, and their owners. (Geographically, Los Angeles is intolerable).
