We all grew up with different reading tastes, even different reading habits. My sister, who turned out to be a psychologist, reads sometimes by page, sometimes by paragraph. I read by sentence, and if its something I really like, I lip-read, a word at a time. I suppose you might say that I have a reading problem.

My mother never had but one theory about reading to children. "When they're sick," she says, "put them to bed and call the doctor, and while the sickness runs its course, the best medicine is to read to them. Nothing brings down a child's fever faster than a book."

I had dyptheria once with "Myths of Many Lands."
