gingerly Bitsy stepped up to the two posts and coild [[coiled]] his feet around them. Then he took the screw in his left hand, [[strikethrough]] and [[/strikethrough]] and with a stretch he was able to read the button and squeeze it.

Then the most frightening thing occurred. All of a sudden [[strikethrough]] Bitsy [[/strikethrough]] there was a low Buzzz! Bitsy's hands and feet began to tingle and then to sizzle and sputter. His whole body seemed to be filled with liquid fire. It raced from the tip of his fingers to the soles of his burning feet. He tried to cry out, but all he could do was Buzz! Just as suddenly, the strange sensation left him and the low buzz stopped. He was perspiring all over and still quite dizzy when he managed to open his eyes. All the other wires were looking at him and laughing heartily. There was one, however, who leaned over toward him and said Don't worry, it happens to all the new workers, but you'll get accustomed to it. The first few days are pretty bad, but after that you won't ever notice it. You see, it doesn't bother me at all!"

But what on earth happened demanded Bitsy.

[[strikethrough]]Oh [/strikethrough]] they just sent a current thru you, thats all " said the other wire

A Currant! that was no currant - I know because Ive eaten currant jelly and its nothing like that.

Oh said the wire, not that kind of current. This was an electric current and you spell it with an "E".

Bitsy still didnt quite understand, but before he could think more about it, they sent the current again and then again and again in quick succession. After a while [[strikethrough]] he got used to [[/strikethrough]] it didnt feel nearly as bad as that horrible first time and sure enough, after the first three days it didnt bother him at all. As a matter of fact, he [[strikethrough]]grew to [[/strikethrough]] almost grew to like the tingling sensation.
However he was still frightened by the sparks that flew from his hands and feet and with his passion for good work he soon became [[strikethrough]] the best wire in the [[/strike through]] most expert [[strikethrough]] in and [[/strikethrough]] at handling the current.

However Bitsy became bored with the work at the T.C. After 3 weeks he decided to give it up and look for a job with a better future. The [[strikethrough]] No one ever pays any attention [[/strikethrough]] hot currents were beginning to take their toll on his health too. Besides no one ever cared about what one lone little telephone wire did. The only time he was ever noticed at all was when something went wrong. Even the Foreman, Mr Dial, as nice as he was, very often blamed one of the wires when [[strikethrough]] something went wrong [[/strikethrough]] really the trouble was with the button or one of the posts. And when the real trouble was located, did anyone ever apologize to the wires? No.

Somewhat discouraged, Bitsy asked himself, "wont I ever get a job where people will appreciate me?
