GIGI

It was one of those windy, rainy nights that chills your bones and makes children restless.

Have you ever felt that you did not know what to do with yourself? That is how it was with Gigi. She had already played that she was a minister and had preached a long sermon. She had painted two pictures and had spoiled both of them. Playing theatre, had been fun, until just a minute ago, when in the middle of a ballet dance, she had tripped and stumped her toe; and now the little eight year old sat in the middle of the floor and was just plain tired.

"I could make believe that I was very poor and had lots and lots of brothers and sisters," thought Gigi all in a rush. "Oh that's no fun!" she said aloud. Then she remembered the last time she played family. The sisters' and brothers' names kept getting mixed all up. "What shall I do next," she sighed.

Just then she heard Aunt Nancy on the telephone in the next room, and having nothing better to do, Gigi was very impolite and listened.

"Prince Charming is coming tonight," she heard her Aunt say, in her usual musical way. "Isn't it too exciting? At eight o'clock. I'll tell you all about it tomorrow."
