That night Gigi dreamed that her daddy came home riding a white horse and they were again doing all the things that had made them both so happy. 

Gigi found it very difficult to pay attention to her school work the next day.

Miss Dodson was considered the best teacher in Carver School. Her room seemed to buzz with activity, whether it was an experiment in science or a lame bird being nursed back to health.
Other students were always finding excuses to visit the classroom, as it was one of the happiest corners in the school.

However, this morning Miss Dodson appeared aoubt at the end of her patience. This was the third time she had passed Gigi's desk and found her toying with her pencil and looking into space, with no work accomplished.

"Gigi, didn't you sleep well last night? Is anything wrong?"
"No, Miss Dodson," answered the little girl slowly shaking her brown curly head.
"Do you need any help with the work?"
"I think I understand it, Miss Dodson."

It was not easy for a little girl to explain how she missed her daddy. If only someone like Prince Charming would come around often and play with her, take her to the circus, ice skating in Central Park, and make Aunt Nancy laugh as daddy used to do.
