Dear Betty:
In the fall of 1946 a Mrs Gordon Onslow-Ford known as Jacqueline Onslow-Ford called at my studio and bought a painting. On this painting there is still due $125. Barney Newman told me that you would not be annoyed if I turned the matter over to you to collect this remaining amount with of course you commission on the sum collected. These people have moved into San Francisco and have sufficient money to purchase an apartment house and publish catalogues for a forthcoming exhibition of his work, etc. In other words they have recognized every obligation except the honorable one incurred to me. Although presuming to be friends with me and acknowledgement of the debt only recently given I feel that the time to act is more than passed.

Should you wish to deal with the matter for me I recommend the briefest correspondence possible, a mere bill with. your authority as my dealer being preferred. You may either deduct the commission from the $125 or add it to the amount, which they deserve at this late time. You are permitted to add that should they wish to return the picture they may consider the sum already paid a rent for the elapsed time that it has been in their passession

Wish I could be there to see you opening shows and discuss plans for the future. Mean while the best of good wishes and hoping to hear from you I remain

Yours most sincerely
