Mr, Sam Gilliam
Byron Gallery
New York, New York

Dear Mr. Gilliam:
Margaret T. Burroughs will begin teaching a seminar for us this Fall on "African and African American Art and Culture".
Since Mrs. Burroughs is in Europe and Africa this summer, she has asked that I write to you. We are in need of color slides of work - paintings, sculpture, prints, ect. and would appreciate any assistance that you can give. If you have slides, 2x2 (35mm) of your work, would you allow us to have duplicates of them made or would you help us get in touch with other artists in you area to obtain slides.
I would appreciate it if you would write to me or forward any material to me in Mrs. Burroughs' absence, since she expects to be gone until late August. She also requested that she be billed.
If you should have course outlines or bibliographical material, we would appreciate receiving it and would be happy to exchange ours as they are developed.
I look forward to hearing from you.
Sincerely,
Whitney Halstead
