Mr. Charles Byron,
Byron Gallery,
1018 Madison Avenue,
NEW YORK CITY, N.Y.

August 28, 1968.

Dear Mr. Byron,

I had hoped to get up to New York, and to talk with you about the following matter, but now (since I am about to leave for vacation) I have to write to you instead.

I've just written an article about art in Washington for Art International and would like to include along with several black and white photographs of artists' work, a color illustration of a painting, "Through Expanses," by Sam Gilliam.

I don't know if Fitzsimmons is going to have any color space available for this piece (I have aimed it for his September 5 deadline)--but I do know that usually he likes the artist's dealer to help finance the color separations. Would you be interested in this?

What I've done, is to send him a black-and-white and the color transparency of this painting, so both he and you can decide either way. Please could you write him if you'd like it to be color?

Hope you've had a good summer,

Best regards,
Andrew Hudson
