THE DUSABLE MUSEUM OF AFRICAN HISTORY, INC.

Friends of the DuSable Museum are holding their Third Ashanti-Durbar Auction Bazaar on June 9, 1974 from 1-6 pm. The benefit will be held at the museum's new location in Washington Park; this building was donated by the City of Chicago Park District. All proceeds from the auction will go toward developing an adequate financial base for the operation and renovation of the building.

To give you a little background........the DuSable Museum is now 13 years old. It is a tax exempt organization which until last year occupied a small home on South Michigan Ave. In June of 1973 it moved to its present location. The Museum is run by a dedicated volunteer staff and operations on the basis of admission fees, private and corporate donations, grants and fund-raising events. Our need is immediate and urgent. Our goal is for the museum to take its place as an important Black cultural and educational facility along with existing institutions in the city.

Please add your support by contributing merchandise to our auction. One of our committee women will be in contact with you soon. She will have proper identification and is authorized to represent the museum. We appreciate your interest and concern, and thank you for your contribution and support.

Sincerely,
Joan Small
