VIII. WHERE LIFE IS BETTER

With Greenbelt complete, life will be better for the 1000 families who will live there. Cooler in summer and more comfortable in winter that the quarters which are available to low income families in the city, Greenbelt marks a real step forward in a rural-industrial planned town.
The home is well lighted and well furnished. Conveniences unknown in many a city dwelling are present here. Underpasses assure safety for children and dead-end streets give them places to play. A lake provides recreation. Allotment gardens give opportunity for the exercise of hobbies as well as giving families sources of adding to the family diet. Farmsteads will give an opportunity for the resettlement to some of the farmfolk from surrounding areas of submarginal land -- and the integration of farm and city gives a new meaning to greenbelt planning
