Dear Bob Reid:

We have a letter from Johnson Publishing Company, Inc., (Ebony Magazine), who are moving into their new eleven story building in Chicago's Loop before the end of the year. It is the company's intention to reflect the African and Afro-American heritage in the building's decor, and they are seeking works of art by Black artists for a permanent collection in the new building. They are prepared to purchase representative works from top artists for this collection.

They have requested specifically that your work be submitted for possible purchase, and would like color slides of the work being offered for sale to be sent to them no later than October 15.

We hope you will feel as we do that this is a fine plan, and that you will be able to send us transparencies by return mail. Please identify each slide with title, media, dimension and price. They stated that all material will be returned, whatever their decision.

We look forward to hearing from you.

Best wishes.

Sincerely,
Sally F.
