Mr. Samuel Miller, Director.
Newark Museum
49 Washington Street
Newark, New Jersey.

Dear Mr. Miller:

I was extremely happy to hear from my dealer Leslie Rankow your willingness to accept as a gift to the museum 2 "sister" paintings of the 2 already in the museum's collection of my " A Falling" series.

One of the canvases in my possession will be donated by Ms. Rankow, an another in the collection of Mr. Clair R. Young of Salinas, Calif. will be given by Mr. Young who has graciously agreed to do this. He will send his canvas to me, and I will get it to the museum as soon as it arrives. It is my understanding that both Ms. Rankow and Mr. Young will be able to claim some sort of tax advantage, plus "gift-of" status as well.

Mr. Seymore Ackerman of Barnardsville, New Jersey who owns the 5th painting of the series is reluctant to part with his canvas at this time, but I feel he will at some future date. He has asked to let him know when the other 4 are in place-he will come and look and then-----.

I am very pleased at the prospect of the series being together again, and thanks to you it seems possible.

Most sincerely,
Robert Reid Robert Reid[signature] 233 Lafayette Street New York, N.Y. 10012
