Robert Reid is an "Artists' Artist." No question about his devotion an solid pleasure in these sophisticated collage paintings. Make no mistake, they are not simply tongue-in-cheek-things. They are perceptive. They dance with the vivacity of formal ballet.

Mr. Reid's mind and work are at a oneness that fosters his pleasing "Figures" series - and the "X-O Games", and the "Hour Games."

Mr. Reid possesses a sense of the universal. To this all his work directly relates. The universality of man as image or as part of a constant, natural cycle is fundamental in his work.

He says strong things simply-
"I like to make friends for my paintings."

Francis J. Quirk
