Sir:
I have the honor to forward you an order from Brig. General I. Vogdes U.S.A Comd'g Dist. of Fla __ which you will please find herewith enclosed __ giving you authority to go into the Interior of Florida, for the purpose of enquiring into the Condition and wants of the citizens. And officially to look after the interest of the Colored people __ to give them such advice, (if the necessity is found) as will induce them to labor for reasonable wages for any that are disposed to hire them; that their own interest and the best interest of that State, and Country may be secured.
