NCAI Minnesota Chippewa Tribe HEADQUARTERS Cass Lake, Minnesota May 18, 1951 National Congress of American Indians N. C. A. I. 1346 Connecticut Ave. N. W. Washington 6, D. C. Attention: Mr. John C. Rainer Executive Secretary Dear Mr. Rainer: This is in reply to your acceptance, if finally approved by the Executive Committee of the NCAI, of our suggestion that the Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians be held, this year, at St. Paul, Minnesota. Yesterday, May 17, at the Regular Meeting of the Tribal Executive Committee of the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe, a Resolution was passed that the Convention for the National Congress of American Indians be held at St. Paul, Minnesota, and that immediate steps be taken for preparation of same, awaiting final decision from the NCAI committee. So far, we have not had word from Mr. Jarle Lierfallom as to the possibility of holding the convention on the dates suggested by myself in my letter to you of May 3, 1951. We ask, therefore, that as soon as you have the final decision. that you notify us at once by air-mail, also all the Tribal Organizations of the various States and request that they make arrangements to be present on the opening day, July 23, when a huge POW-WOW will be held in honor of the Governor of Minnesota, who will be initiated into the Chippewa Tribe. The following days, July 24, 25, 26 and 27 will be the Convention dates. We will anxiously await your final decision on this matter so that we can give the 'go ahead' signal and also notify our Governor and inquire as to his availability on the 23rd of July, and to get other plans lined up. We are very anxious to make this meeting a great success and I am sure with your help and the help of all other organizations, it will be. Sincerely yours, Ed. M. Wilson Ed. M.
