THE SUPREME COURT
STATE OF OKLAHOMA

May 23, 1951

Mr. Robert Bennett
% John C. Rainer, Secretary
National Congress of American Indians
202 Dupont Circle Building
Washington, D. C.

Dear Bob:

I have a note from John to the effect that you are in Washington. I feel quite sure that the Executive Council will approve holding the convention at St. Paul, Minnesota, July 24-27 inclusive, with headquarters at the Lowry Hotel.

As chairman of the program committee, I wish you would get started on laying plans for the program, which I hope will include panel discussions and an address by the Governor of Minnesota on the 24th, and such other events as you have so efficiently provided for in the past.

I believe Ruth Bronson is a member of your committee and you have opportunity to go over the matter with her. On May 16th I wrote her a letter, copy of which I am enclosing, in which I suggested that certain committees be appointed as indicated therein. What do you think of the idea? If you think it is good, I would like for you and Ruth to suggest, at least, a chairman and two members of each committee and I will appoint them. We can then notify them of their appointments so that they can make some advance preparation. These committees could conduct hearings at the convention and then make their reports. This might eliminate a number of duplicitous resolutions, etc. However, this is just a suggestion and if you feel that we should proceed along the line of the plans heretofore followed, it will be okay with me.

Sincerely
N. B. Johnson
