[[top margin note]] Convention file [[/top margin note]] June 11, 1951 Mr. Ed M. Wilson Ball Club, Minn. Dear Mr. Wilson: We are indeed happy that the 1951 Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians will be held in St. Paul, and this is to express our appreciation for the cordial invitation extended by the Minnesota Chippewa Tribe. We are recommending for the keynote speaker of the Convention, Mrs. Henry (Elizabeth) Roe Cloud, a Chippewa. You know Mrs. Cloud, I am sure, and you will recall that she was chosen as the outstanding "Mother of 1950." We also plan to dedicate the Convention to Corporal Mitchell Red Cloud, Jr., deceased, winner of the Congressional Medal of Honor, and should like to have his mother, Mrs. Nellie Red Cloud, of Friendship, Wisconsin, present at the Convention. Since our funds are extremely limited, we should like to have your group pay the transportation expenses of these two women, to the Convention, if possible. We can pay for their hotel and other expenses in St. Paul. Mrs. Elizabeth Roe Cloud is living in Oregon and will probably prefer to come to the meeting by plane. If you can pay these expenses, will you let us know so that we can have our Program Committee extend the invitations, with the information that your organization is sponsoring their appearance. Looking forward to seeing you in St. Paul, I am, Sincerely yours, RUTH M. BRONSON Executive Director CC Judge Johnson Robert L. Bennett
