Congress of the United States
House of Representatives
Washington, D. C.

June 21, 1951

The Honorable N. B. Johnson
President, National Congress of American Indians
The Supreme Court
The State of Oklahoma
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma

My dear Judge Johnson:

I want to thank you for your recent letter inviting me to attend the Eight Annual Convention of the National Congress of American Indians. It was thoughtful of you to include me among those you would like to have present.

Perhaps you are aware of my keen interest in the many problems confronting the Indian population in my state and the Nation as well. I have followed the progress of the National Congress of American Indians closely and certainly would like to be present for at least some of the meetings at St. Paul.

However, it looks as though Congress will still be in session on July 24, and unquestionably there will be important legislation under consideration, so it does seem quite unlikely that it will be possible for me to be absent from Washington even for only a few days at that time.

With kindest regards and my very best wishes always, I am
Sincerely Yours,
