Hon. N. B. Johnson -3- July 2, 1951

officers, speakers, and any prominent guests who are definitely expected, with pertinent biographical data on each. Mr. Kent Fitzgerald, whom you already know, a member of A.I.I., is handling publicity for us and any material which is available should be mailed to him in care of the U.S. Indian Service, 2908 Colfax Avenue South, Minneapolis 8, Minnesota. Mr. Fitzgerald will work with Mr. Swain and the newspaper on the necessary publicity.

Mr. Swain has suggested appointment of the following committee.

Reception Committee } Members will have identifying
Hosts and Hostesses Committee } ribbons or badges.
Registration Committee
Publicity Committee
Transportation Committee
Program Committee
Finance Committee

Do you have suggestions for persons to serve on these committee or shall we appoint these committee locally? We have named Mr. Fitzgerald, Chairman of the Publicity Committee, tentatively because of the need for immediate work on this phase of the convention arrangements.

If you want us to handle the printing of programs, please furnish us information as to the convention agenda--business sessions, special events, speakers, etc., also the number programs you want printed and whether you think it feasible to meet the cost of printing through the sale of advertising in the program. If the cost of printing the program cannot be met in this way, how shall it be taken care of?

An early reply to the questions raised in this letter and confirmation of the arrangement we have already made will be appreciated. Have you asked Mr. Leirfallom or his assistant, John Poor, in the Minnesota State Division of the Social Welfare, to assume responsibility for she any phrase of the convention arrangements? Please feel free to issue us any further instructions you find necessary.

We are looking forward to seeing you at convention time.

Sincerely yours,

Ed. W. Wilson, Chairman
Minnesota Chippewa Tribe

P.S.
Since we are working closely with Mr. Fitzgerald and the American Indians, Inc., in Minneapolis, it will probably expedite matters if you will furnish Fitzgerald copies of any correspondence you have with me regarding convention arrangements. E. M. W.
