lands for the Garrison Reservoir because said provisions did great harm to the Indians without any necessity and without any corresponding benefit to the federal government; and 

WHEREAS the act was accepted by the Three Affiliated Tribes of Fort Berthold upon a written understanding that amendments would be considered restoring certain of these rights to the Indians, and 

WHEREAS: said committment has been forgotten for more than a year and the Department of the Interior has stalled compliance with it by refusing to file its report on the proposed amendments; and

WHEREAS said amendments are now pending in the House and Senate in the form of bills (s. 1830 and H. R. 4635) introduced by Senator Young and Congressman Burdick: 
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED:  that the National Congress of American Indians demands that the Secretary of the Interior file his report immediately on said legislation and that same be set down for hearing and adopted as soon as possible.

WHEREAS, the Minnesota Chippewa Tribal Council is desireous of seeing the immediate construction of Highway # 61 over the Grand Portage Reservation on the area they now have by reason of a condemnation of these Indian lands;
BE IT RESOLVED that the National Congress of American Indians urge the State Highway [[strikethrough]] Dpea [[/strikethrough]] Department of Minnesota to proceed with immediate construction of said highway from the present Grand Portage Indian Village Eastward to the Canadian border over the proposed route. [[strikethrough]] BE IT FURTHER RESOVL [[/strikethrough]] BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Minnesota State Highway Commission be urged to take over and maintain as a temporary trunk highway the road from Mineral Center to Grand Portage.
