RESOLUTION NCAI 1952-5

WHEREAS, no man can serve two masters; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of this convention to completely divorce this organization from any connection with or domination by the Bureau of Indian Affairs; and

WHEREAS, the selection of employees of the Indian Bureau as officers of this organization [strikethrough]is[/strikethrough] has resulted in distrust of the purposes of this organization by many Indians throughout the United States; and

WHEREAS, it is the desire of this convention to bring this convention closer to the people and eliminate any Indian Bureau influence in the organization,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that henceforth no present employee of the Bureau of Indian Affairs shall be eligible to hold any elective, appointive or honorary post in this organization, it being the sense of this resolution that such disqualification from holding office will not prevent any person of Indian blood no matter by whom employed from being a member and active worker with this organization.

ATTEST:
I certify that this resolution was duly adopted.
