I have the honor to return herewith the Declarations for Areas of Pay and Bounty of Sylvester Roy and James Davis. In the case of Sylvester Roy a new Declaration will require to be made out as the declarants failed to sign in the proper place. In the case of James Davis the Declarant's signatures have not been witnessed, in all cases where parties sign by mark, this signature must be witnessed by two parties, (witnesses) who write their names.

I enclose herewith the Discharge Paper and Vouchers for Arrears of Pay and Bounty of Slade King 2nd U.S.C. Cav. The Discharge is from Co "A" but the vouchers are for Co "O." there must be a mistake somewhere, as I am almost certain that the money is for the man holding the Enclosed Discharge.  Please set the matter right at your Earliest convenience as Slade is very anxious to return to his crop of cotton.
