General:
You will find accompanying this my application in behalf of the Atlanta & Gulf R.R. Co. for 636 tons of iron rails which is claimed by this company in the track of the Florida Branch R.R.

I have not thought it necessary to embody in the application the facts which I am about to submit to your attention, but they are important in showing that the United States hold rightful claim to say 18 miles [[strikethrough]] of the is [[/strikethrough]] or [[strikethrough]] days [[/strikethrough]] about 1500 tons, of the Rail on the Georgia [[strikethrough]] side [[/strikethrough]] section of the Florida Branch R.R. This amount is inclusion of the 636 tons claimed for this company.

The Georgia section of the Road is 25 1/2 miles in length extending to the Florida boundry. It was graded by this company, but the Road Bed was abandoned temporarily in 1862 [[strikethrough]] to [[/strikethrough]] in consequence of the impossibilities of obtaining men to lay the track. The Confederate government funding the connection important for military purposes, sought and obtained the use of the Road Bed from the Company and completed the Road in January 1865.

The rail used for the track was rail seized from the track way rail seized from the Brunswick & Florida R.R. Company, for which
