Mississippi, delivered an address before the members of the Legislature, on the subject of education. I am sorry to say that the Rev Dr. uttered not one word respecting the education of the Freedmen. In the course of his remarks, he expressed a sentiment, for the utterance of which, he may justly be styled, a narrow minded Sectionalist. The sentiment to which I allude was expressed as follows:- said he, "It has been said that this must be a white mans country, and a white mans Government, but I say that is not enough. I go farther, and say, that this must be a southern white mans country." The sentiment was loudly applauded.

Senator Alcorn, in his public address before the members of the Legislature, said "he would not bestow any privileges upon the freedmen"
