PETITIONING RESTORATION OF MINERAL RIGHTS -- SPECIFIC to THREE AFFILIATED TRIBES OF NORTH DAKOTA, Public Law 437

WHEREAS the construction of the Garrison Dam reservoir project in the State of North Dakota acquired 158,000 acres of both Tribal and individually owned lands on the Fort Berthold Indian Reservation under Public Law 437, and

WHEREAS under said Public Law 437 no provision was made to reserve oil and/or mineral interests in such lands,

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that Congress enact legislation restoring said mineral rights to said Indian tribes and that any legislation now pending covering such subject be amended to include above-named tribes.

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that copies of this resolution be mailed to the appropriate Committees of the Congress, to the Secretary of the Interior and to the Commissioner of Indian Affairs.
