W11 New York Oct 11th 1865 Dear General Enclosed you will find an application for transportation for Mr, Gledding who is to take charge of the School on St Helena Island formerly taught by Mrs Towne which we consider the best School on the Sea Islands. It is very large and a man ought to have charge of it. Dr Brisbane will be in Washington on Monday or Tuesday and will bring with him Instructions which we have prepared [[strikethrough]] ex [[/strikethrough]] and which we hope the President will be pleased to approve and sign.
