These incidents in no way credit the Municipal Art Committee with efficiency, nor is the popularity of that committee enhance among artists.

The Artists' Coordination Committee made several representations to Mrs. Breckinridge in an effort to avoid the repetition of such mistakes in the future and offered the cooperation of the artists. Therefore it was proposed that the artists' organizations should send their official representatives to the Municipal Art Committee and work with the membership of that committee. Mrs. Breckinridge was decidedly hostile to that proposal. As an alternative, it was requested by the artists that a meeting of the members of the Municipal Art Committee would be called and at that meeting, the members of the Artists' Coordination Committee would submit their plans for cooperation. Last June, Mrs. Breckinridge accepted that proposal and promised to call a meeting in the early fall. However, since then, repeated reminders of her promise failed to bring even the courtesy of a reply.

The Artists, therefore, appeal to you, as a member of the Municipal Art Committee, to act in the interests of art and artists and make known your willingness to fulfill your obligation as a member of that committee. Kindly sign the enclosed post card addressed to Mrs. Breckinridge requesting the calling of the meeting not later than December 10th, 1936, and mail it to her; and also sign and mail the post card addressed to us.

Thank you for your helpful cooperation.

Very sincerely yours,

Chairman, Artists' Coordination Committee
