The Africobra Show, featuring about nine artists, opened at Howard University Art Gallery a few days ago, and it is still on.

Having gotten to this exhibition, I immediately found myself amid multivarious colors. Probably things might have been improved if the dress of every viewer had not contributed to the illumination. I was so attracted and disturbed by these colors that I decided to make another visit when people would not turn up in large numbers.

My second visit brought a relaxed atmosphere; I was able to see things as they were, but still under the broad umbrella of shining colors, mostly yellow and red. It was this time that I was able to realize that different artists' works were on show.

But, it was conspicuously recognized that one artist stood out among others. His works looked separated only to break the boredom in the shining, warm, vibrating colors in others. These different works are from Jeff Donaldson. The arrest the works gave me makes it necessary to give my comments reference other works.

The exhibition as a whole is a success but if other works have beauty and inspirational messages etc., Jeff Donaldson's exhibits in addition, have power. It is powerful in symbols, people and colors. His white dominated paintings are reinforced with various distributed cool colors that do not divert our attention from the main powerful figures. Through this, we are able to see that he has his style and technique only to himself.
