Dear Mrs. Parsons,

I am afraid that the short period of time in which to prepare for a second show with new objects (even a few) doesn't even give me any other alternative than to decline with thanks your offer. The chances are that I'll have enough by the middle of November to make up a Christmas table of some sort, the type of more popular items that your gallery has had success with in the past, and possibly some brand new novelties.
With regard to the ballet things, please do not show them from the portfolio if the three of them cannot be hung. I think too much of this set to have the edge taken off them for future showings.

Sincerely yours,
Joseph Cornell
